Located 3 miles out from Kalaloch beach, the 94 foot tower is brick and sheathed in iron with a first-order lens flashing a light to over 20 miles distant. Christian Zauner the first keeper would later serve at Grays Harbor lighthouse (just south of where we live). The fog signal and light were automated in 1968. In 1995 the original lens was moved to Westport Maritime Museum and replaced by a modern optic lens. The keepers' dwellings are gone but the fog signal building and trumpets still stand. The original lens stands on permanent display in its own room along with photos and other treasures of the time (seen below and at right).
