Alki  Point Lighthouse

1887

Marking the southern entrance to Elliott Bay, this site was originally just a post light in 1887. Alki Lighthouse station was built in 1913--a  37 foot tower with a fourth-order lens light by an incandescent oil-vapor lamp. The fog signal building with a Daboll trumpet stood near the beach. Both fog signal and light are now automated.  The original lens is at Admiralty Head Lighthouse and the lens lantern is at Seattle's Coast Guard Museum.  The lighthouse is open May-Sept (Sat and Sun).
