Marrowstone Lighthouse 1888
Originally a post light in 1888, a fog signal and 1 1/2 story dwelling were added in 1896....within a year the construction of Fort Flagler began on the bluffs above the lighthouse. Located at the northeast end of Marrowstone Island, the light and fog signal were automated in 1962, and the dwellings are used by the US Fish and Wildlife Service. The beach around the lighthouse is open to the public but not the lighthouse station grounds.
